SWEDISH MASSAGE | |
As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. Light pressure is applied and instead of focusing on specific areas (as with deep tissue massage) the entire body is addressed.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE | |
When one hears the term deep tissue massage, one often literally thinks “a massage that is deep.” Yet, deep tissue massage is much more complex. It is the manipulation of the soft tissue, working a SPECIFIC muscle SLOWLY to elicit a response. Deep tissue massage is not necessarily deep; it is specific and slow.
Deep tissue massage uses four techniques to work a specific muscle or group of muscles. These four techniques are lengthening, broadening, separating and direct pressure/friction. Lengthening strokes lengthen and stretch the muscle and connective tissue, break up scar tissue and fascial adhesions, improve the flow of circulation and help remove toxins and metabolic waste from the muscles. Broadening strokes break up the fascia constricting the muscle, break up scar tissue, broaden the muscle, and widen the capillaries increasing blood flow to the muscle. Direct pressure helps to release specific areas of tension within a muscle.

Foot reflexology is the manual manipulation of the feet in order to stimulate through nerve and energy reflexes the organs and glands of the body to promote optimal organ function. In addition to working with the different reflexes, foot reflexology techniques also have the following benefits:
When people are stressed, they often focus their attention in their heads or their mind and thoughts. The feet are the furthest from the head so by working on the feet it helps to pull our energy away from the head and into the body to help calm and ground. This treatment can be added to any massage service and is normally performed at the end of the service. |
