All of our massages are a customized experience based upon the Aveda Elemental Nature℠ philosophy and your favorite Aveda aroma. The guest is asked to smell several aromas which are chosen according to their specific elemental nature.
As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. Light pressure is applied and instead of focusing on specific areas (as with deep tissue massage) the entire body is addressed.

When one hears the term deep tissue massage, one often literally thinks “a massage that is deep.” Yet, deep tissue massage is much more complex. It is the manipulation of the soft tissue, working a SPECIFIC muscle SLOWLY to elicit a response. Deep tissue massage is not necessarily deep; it is specific and slow. Deep tissue massage uses four techniques to work a specific muscle or group of muscles. These four techniques are lengthening, broadening, separating and direct pressure/friction.

Lengthening strokes lengthen and stretch the muscle and connective tissue, break up scar tissue and fascial adhesions, improve the flow of circulation and help remove toxins and metabolic waste from the muscles. Broadening strokes break up the fascia constricting the muscle, break up scar tissue, broaden the muscle, and widen the capillaries increasing blood flow to the muscle. Direct pressure helps to release specific areas of tension within a muscle.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage include:
  • Increases muscle flexibility, strength and range of motion
  • Increases circulation to the muscles
  • Opens capillaries enhancing oxygen assimilation into the muscles
  • Clears out metabolic wastes (CO2, uric acid)
  • Increases fluid exchange of nutrients
  • Breaks up lesions (fibrous tissue) due to past injuries, over-activity or weakness in the structure
  • Stretches abnormal fascia (connective tissue) that binds muscles, limiting movement and range of motion
  • Reduces pain and discomfort
Prenatal massage is specially tailored to an expectant mother's needs. It utilizes the same type of strokes as Swedish massage but is customized to fit each individual’s specific wishes. This type of massage is only performed after the first trimester and can be done all the way up to the day the mother gives birth. Different positions are used, such as side-lying, to achieve an optimal level of comfort for the mother as well as pillows/padding and blankets.

Myofascial therapy is a form of deep tissue massage which uses cross-fiber and longitudinal release stroke techniques to focus on a specific muscle or muscle groups. This type of massage modality is meant to be therapeutic (as opposed to relaxing), and the benefits include decreased pain, restoration of muscle elasticity, breaking up of scar tissue, increasing circulation and promotion of healing. The therapist does a short consultation to assess the guests specific needs and then reassess at the end of the session.

Foot Reflexology Treatment30 min / $50
Foot reflexology is the manual manipulation of the feet in order to stimulate through nerve and energy reflexes the organs and glands of the body to promote optimal organ function. In addition to working with the different reflexes, foot reflexology techniques also have the following benefits:

  • Increase circulation: If one has poor circulation, the feet and hands (which are the furthest from the heart) will feel the effects first.
  • It feels good. The feet are perhaps the most abused area of the body as we put them into shoes and stand on them for extended periods.
  • Relaxes tension throughout the nervous system and helps restore the normal subtle energy flow in the body.
  • Reduces and relieves stress. Foot massage is perhaps the most grounding form of massage.

When people are stressed, they often focus their attention in their heads or their mind and thoughts. The feet are the furthest from the head so by working on the feet it helps to pull our energy away from the head and into the body to help calm and ground.

This treatment can be added to any massage service and is normally performed at the end of the service.
